Makeup and accessories
While I was in Cardiff on Monday I picked up these two little handy items.
A blending brush or crease brush and the NYX Felt tip liner.
First thing I tried was the felt tip liner. I had needed a new black eye-liner as all my others had dried up or gone clumpy, as I hadn't used them in so long.
I have been practicing my winged eye-liner using a kohl eye-liner or pencil liner as I wanted something that would be easy to clean up if it all went horribly wrong.
I used to be very good at doing my eyeliner with a wing but I got out of practice while I had depression. So needed to get my eye and hand back into the S-wing of things :)
So after a couple of weeks of practicing with a pencil, I braved the felt tip liner. I have to say for the first time with a felt tip liner I didn't do too badly. The only thing I will say for the NYX felt tip liner, at this point, as it was my first go with it, was that the felt tip was a little dry. I think possibly that I need to store it nib down to allow the product to soak into the tip better.
I tried using the felt tip liner again a couple of days later, after storing it upside-down. It did work better at first, however, I find the the felt tip tends to pick up my eye shadow and clog the tip which then means the ink doesn't flow properly, making it difficult to get a neat line.
If you are new to using a liquid liner then £8 for the NYX Felt Tip Liner is not a bad place to start, as you can practice using it with out eye-shadow to get your hand in, as it is quite a bit different from using a pencil.
The crease/ blending brush from Lottie. I've never used any of their brushes, but I have been hunting Hi and Low for a crease brush and I thought that this one at just £4.99 would be a great introduction.
The bristles are synthetic, which means they shouldn't absorb too much product. When I first felt the brush I thought it might be a little bit stiff, however, I was proved wrong and it did a fab job of adding product and blending out my eye-shadow, without too much fuss or fall out. I also found that the size and length of the brush handle it self was very comfortable, which made doing my eye-shadow much easier.
If you are looking for a crease brush to try out for the first time the one from Lottie, which is available in Superdrug, would be a good place to start.
Hope you enjoyed this review.
