Mist of the ages

It's summer (well, it's supposed to be) and that means BBQ's, picnics in the park, kids splashing in pools and warm weather. I like the warm weather but I do find that when it's really warm I can get a bit hot and bothered and this is when I tend to use a facial mist.

Now there are loads on the market from ones you can pick up for cheap in places like superdrug and boots to designer mists from Lancome and La Mer.

However, you can make your own.

The green tea and the cucumber facial mists are really very nice but I decide to combine the two with a few drops of Tea Tree oil as I have that in my bathroom for treating spots.

First you need to brew your tea. You can use white tea or Green tea (loose or bag is

fine) as both contain lots of antioxidants which are great for your skin. Boil the kettle and leave it cool for 60 seconds as you don't want to scorch the tea, and leave to brew for 5 minutes, then remove the tea and leave to cool.

While you're waiting for the tea to cool you can prepare the cucumber. Peel the cucumber and grate it into a muslin cloth or clean cotton tea towel also works, and squeeze the juice from the cucumber into a dish or jar.

Once your tea is cooled add equal parts of tea to cucumber and add a few drops of tea tree oil. The higher the concentration of tea tree oil the less you will need. I have a 5% concentrate so I use about 10 drops. Give it a good shake and keep in the refrigerator and use when required.

Happy days for your skin!
